Instrumentation Development Engineer

Pulse Structural Monitoring is the leader in marine structural monitoring and has been responsible for the provision of highly successful monitoring systems and services since 1998. Pulse is part of the Acteon group.

A new and immediate position has arisen at our Woking office for an Instrumentation Product Development Engineer.  The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in instrumentation product development and shall have a sound technical background (mechanical/electrical/electro-mechanical/sensors). Experience in the offshore industry would be advantageous but not essential. We are looking for an innovative, hardworking and passionate team player.

He/she will take responsibility for researching new sensors and monitoring techniques in the market and play active role in developing instrumentation products to enhance PULSE’ capability. The job will include activities from conceptual design through to detailed product design (calculations, specifications, prototyping, testing, technical reports and onsite installations).

Job Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in Electronics Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Component research and selection, including sensors
  • Schematic design
  • PCB design
  • Prototyping
  • Firmware design using C programming language
  • PC software design using C programming language
  • Instrumentation packaging
  • Testing
  • Required to occasionally go offshore

Skills in the following would be advantageous:

  • Ultrasonic electronics
  • Digital data processing
  • Labview and NI data acquisition systems
